Abou El-Enein Mourns Former 1st Lady Gehan Sadat

On Friday, Parliament Deputy Speaker Mohamed Abou El-Enein mourned Former First Lady Gehan Sadat who passed away earlier today at the age of 88.

He posted: "Egypt lost today one of the greatest women in the Egyptian contemporary history, Mrs. Gehan Sadat, the wife of the former President Mohamed Anwar Sadat, the Hero of War and Peace, and the mother of Mr. Gamal Sadat."

The Parliament Deputy Speaker highlighted that the late Lady was a real representative of giving and diligence as she supported her husband during one of the hardest times in Egyptian history, the 6th October 1973 War.

In the same context, he asserted that Sadat was one of the most effective and influential women in Egyptian history, in addition, she had a glorious record of loyalty to her country, Egypt. Therefore, she deserved the Order of Perfection issued by President Abdel Fattah Sisi.

Abou El-Enein underscored that the late Lady presented huge efforts during the 6th October 1973 War such as directing the associations of Red Crescent and Blood Bank to assist the injured.

He concluded that he sent his deepest condolences to Gamal Sadat, the son of the great Lady, and he prayed for Sadat, adding, "We ask God Almighty to grant our deceased his mercy and rest in peace and to inspire her family, and her loved ones with patience and solace, and we belong to God and to Him we shall return."
