Abdel Ghaffar: Students Will Not Graduate Without Exams

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, confirmed that the exams for the second semester in universities and institutes will be held.

He pointed out that the date of holding the exams has been carried over from mid-May to the end of the month.

In televised statements, the minister explained that the Supreme Council of Universities is in a permanent session confirmed the abolition of the "Midterm" exams and the scores for these exams are added to the end of the academic year exams.

Abdel Ghaffar added that the quarterly exams will not take place before the end of May. They may be postponed to June, July or August, according to the developments.

The minister continued: "There is no one in the world can imagine what will happen after a week, so the mechanism of holding exams in presence of students or electronically are all possible scenarios, according to developments."

UNESCO announced the closure of schools in approximately 80 percent of the total number of students.

The organization “UNESCO” held an online meeting of an ad hoc group of ministers of education, during which they exchanged information related to strengthening measures taken in their countries to support teachers, parents, and students.

They also pointed out the difficulties that have emerged and that require global cooperation on them.

Formed after the first online meeting of ministers of education organized by UNESCO on 10 March, the ad hoc group consists of 11 countries from all regions: Costa Rica, Croatia, Egypt, France, Iran, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Peru, and Senegal.
