On Saturday, August 3, Dr. Badr Abdel Atty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration, conducted a phone call with Mr. Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister.
The call is part of Egypt's efforts to engage with all concerned parties to contain the ongoing escalation and reduce regional tensions, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
During the phone call, Abdel Atty emphasized that the recent developments in the region are unprecedented and highly dangerous, posing a risk of expanding the conflict in a way that threatens the stability of the countries in the region and the interests of their peoples.
He stressed the need for all parties to remain calm and exercise restraint to prevent the situation from spiraling out of control.
Moreover, Abdel Atty reiterated Egypt's stance calling for an end to the war on the Gaza Strip, considering it the main cause of increased tension and confrontation in the region.
He also affirmed Egypt’s rejection of Israel's escalation policies, assassinations, and violations of sovereignty, noting that such policies do not serve any party's interests and will only fuel the conflict, making it harder to contain the crisis.
For his part, Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister expressed his appreciation for Egypt's initiative to communicate and its concern for regional security and stability.
Bagheri also thanked Abdel Atty for his participation in the inauguration ceremony of Iran's new President, reflecting Egypt’s interest in sharing this significant event with the Iranian government and people at a high ministerial level.
