Most of the world's population spends their 24-hour day between day and night, but did you know that there are places on Earth where the sun does not set for more than 70 days in a row?

1. Norway

Norway, located within the Arctic Circle, is called the “Land of the Midnight Sun,” as the sun never sets from May to late July, for approximately 76 days. In the Svalbard region of Norway, the sun constantly rises from April 10 to August 23 Svalbard is the northernmost populated area in Europe. 

2. Nunavut - Canada

Nunavut is a city located two degrees above the Arctic Circle, in the Northwest Territories of Canada. This place sees about two months of 24/7 sunlight, while during the winter the place sees about 30 consecutive days of total darkness.

3. Iceland

Iceland is the largest island in Europe after Great Britain, and is famous for being the country where there are no mosquitoes. Iceland has glaciers, geysers, volcanoes, hot springs and mountains. Iceland is also known as the “Land of the Midnight Sun,” and the best times to experience full 24-hour sunlight are between mid-May and mid-August, when the sun remains visible throughout Iceland.

4. Barrow - Alaska

From late May to late July, the sun does not set in Paro, which is later compensated for by the beginning of November and up to thirty days when the sun does not rise, a period known as the polar night. This also means that the country remains in the dark during the harsh winter months. This place is famous for its snow-capped mountains and mesmerizing glaciers.

5. Finland

Finland is the land of a thousand lakes and islands. Most parts of Finland see direct sun for days on end during the summer, as the sun continues to shine for about 73 days, while during the winter, this area does not see any sunlight. It is also one of the reasons why people sleep less in the summer and more during the winter.

6. Sweden

From early May until late August, Sweden sees the sun set around midnight and rise at around 4 a.m. in the country. From late May until mid-July, the sun remains visible at midnight for 56 days a year, and Sweden is the land of the Northern Lights, where you can witness the phenomenon of the midnight sun and the magic of the Northern Lights when they appear at different times.
