Seven people died and others were injured in a fire at a snack food factory in Taiwan.

The local newspaper “Taiwan News” stated that the heavy smoke and flames led to the siege of the workers (including locals and foreigners); this resulted in many of them being sent to refrigerated storage within the factory.

The newspaper indicated that the fire was brought under control, and the Changhua County Fire Department transferred 10 people for treatment to hospitals.

Firefighters are currently searching for the missing people. According to the rescue crew on site, the factory floor was wet and slippery, and a large amount of machinery complicated the rescue operation.
