Giza is one of the most unique cultural and historical destinations in Egypt. It has captured the imagination of millions of travelers who flock to the country to see ancient sites like the Great Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), and the Pharaonic Village.

The Great Sphinx

The Great Sphinx is a colossal sculpture located in Egypt, believed to have been built by Redjedef (Djedefre), the older brother of 4th dynasty pharaoh Khafre, to commemorate their father, Khufu. The close physical association between the Sphinx and Khafre, along with other evidence, suggests that this massive depiction of a recumbent lion with the head of a king was carved specifically for the Pharaoh.

The Sphinx is a royal sign and horizon emblem. The fusion of this strong animal with the pharaoh's head created an icon that persisted and was frequently utilized throughout Egyptian history.

The limestone figure is situated near Giza and is one of Egypt's most famous landmarks. The Sphinx's height is its primary draw for tourists. The entire structure is made of the bedrock of the Giza plateau. In front of the Sphinx lies a temple dedicated to its worship. Visitors to Egypt, especially those on their honeymoon, should consider visiting Giza and taking a famous kissing photo with the Sphinx in the background.

GEM

GEM, also known as the Giza Museum, is the world's largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. The museum is currently undergoing development to include more new objects, but it still welcomes visitors in limited numbers before the official opening date. Once complete, the museum will also serve as a communication center for other museums around the world.

The Pharaonic Village

The Pharaonic Village is an outdoor recreational area with a theme park built around the ancient civilization of Egypt and its pharaohs. It's situated on Jacob's Island on the Nile River in Cairo. Visitors come here to experience the recreated ancient Egyptian life, mini-museums, replica structures, and engaging activities, providing a refreshing and informative break from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The Pharaonic Village offers an exceptional introduction to art and history. As you enter the area, which showcases Egypt's past, you'll be captivated by its beauty. The location houses the Hellenistic Museum and a reproduction of the Tutankhamun Tomb. Ancient art is also on display here. This is one of the top attractions in Giza and offers visitors the opportunity to relive Egyptian history.
