A tragic shooting at a Bangkok shopping mall left three people dead and four injured on Tuesday, according to Thailand's emergency services.
Yuthana Sritanan, Director of the Erawan Emergency Centre, confirmed the casualties during a press briefing.
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin announced that the attacker had been apprehended, stating, "The assailant has been arrested.
In fact, he surrendered. Three people have been injured. The police are clearing the area. The situation is now under control."
The incident adds to a string of high-profile tragedies in Thailand. In July, a devastating explosion at a warehouse in Sungai Kolok, near the Malaysian border, claimed the lives of ten people and left 115 others with severe injuries.
The blast, reportedly caused by ongoing construction work, was described by local residents as a massive explosion.
Earlier in May, the country was shocked by one of its most chilling criminal cases when a Thai woman was convicted of committing 14 murders, making it one of the most significant serial killer cases in Thailand's history.
