Three civilians were killed, and two others were injured when a landmine from the remnants of war exploded in eastern Latakia, northwest Syria.

The blast occurred as their vehicle passed through the mountainous Kabani region.

The Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday.

“Three civilians lost their lives, and two others were wounded when a landmine detonated in their vehicle in the Kabani Mountains of eastern Latakia,” the statement read.

Rescue teams responded swiftly, transporting the injured to a nearby hospital and recovering the bodies of the deceased for their families.

Unexploded ordnance and landmines remain a significant threat to civilians across Syria, causing frequent casualties and severe injuries.

These war remnants also disrupt agriculture and economic activities, preventing many displaced families from safely returning to their homes.
