There are so many things you can enjoy in Egypt's Sinai peninsula, you want at least two or three weeks to visit. From the thriving metropolis of the iconic Castle of Saladin in Pharaoh's Island to the quiet retreat of Taba city and Saint Catherine's Complex, there is something for everyone.

Sada Elbald English (See) can recommend a few more hot spots you will like.

Take a look, below, at the best places in the Sinai peninsula:

Castle of Saladin, Pharaoh's Island

If you like Ayyubid, Abbasi, Crusades, and Mamluk ruins, you will surely admire the Castle of Saladin. The iconic castle is the most well-preserved ancient Ayyubid Castle outside Cairo. It dates back to 1116 AD and was a significant city on Egypt's ancient trade route.

The castle can be reached by a day trip from Taba city. You can also stay at various affordable hotels and resorts in Taba and take a day touring the area.

Taba

Located near the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba, it is a frequent vacation spot for both the Egyptians and tourists, especially those from Russia on their way to other destinations in Egypt or as a weekend getaway. It is the most popular resort of Egypt's eastern coastline along the Red Sea, Egypt's Red Sea Riviera.

Nearly, the majority of current residents of Taba are Bedouin who are originally nomads, herding their goats and sheep around the desert, moving frequently and setting up temporary settlements as they went.

While some of them continue to maintain a traditional nomadic lifestyle, the majority now live somewhat permanently in Bedouin Village - the only settlement in the protected area - and are heavily involved in the area's tourism industry. Many elements of Bedouin life remain ubiquitous in Taba, allowing visitors to enjoy an authentic cultural experience during their visit.

Saint Catherine's Complex

For hundreds of years, this beautiful remote historical complex had been remaining in its fantastic and unique condition offering insights into the Coptic culture. It’s one of the most incredible places you would ’like to visit and a vast area you cannot miss whilst in Sinai.

The ancient city Sant Catherin located in southern Sinai, a small town located away from Sharm El-Sheikh city by 201.9 km and is considered one of the best Sinai Peninsula tourist venues that you can visit to enjoy tranquility and peace of mind.

It is located at the foot of Mount Sinai, Saint Catherine’s Monastery was the start of the city, it was constructed by virtue of the decree issued from the Emperor Justinian between 527AD and 565 AD.

Once an active cultural center, it is now among the best places to visit in Egypt now. This is amongst the best places to visit in North Africa. Though most of it is in ruins, some structures like the Monastery of Sant Catherin, Abu Seila, or Farsh Rummana can still be recognized.

Explore the place with a horse ride, take an air balloon ride, and don’t forget to sip the Arab coffee. It is one of the best cities in Egypt that will leave you in mesmerism.
