Officials reported on Sunday that at least 26 individuals have died following unusually heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, leading to widespread destruction across Pakistan.

The majority of fatalities occurred in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest, where 21 people, including women and children, succumbed to rain-related incidents within the last 24 hours.

Additionally, five others, comprising a woman and three children, lost their lives in the southwestern province of Balochistan.

Over 50 individuals, including women and children, suffered injuries due to collapsing roofs and walls, as per the regional disaster management authorities.

Earlier this week, around 10,000 residents were evacuated from the coastal town of Gwadar in the southwest by rescue workers following heavy rains that inundated the area.

The army, rescue agencies, and paramilitary forces are actively involved in evacuation efforts.
