In exclusive statements to “SEE” English website, Director General of Restoration Department at the Egyptian Museum Moa’men Othman said that they have studied the route which the royal mummies’ procession will take, putting into consideration the following international standards:
1-The road should be fully paved
2-Safe
3-The shortest possible path leading to the museum

Do we need foreign experts to help us in mummies’ transportation and restoration processes?
We do not need any foreign experts; we have a great experience in this regard. Moreover, there is a remarkable cooperation among the officials of the Egyptian museum in Tahrir, Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC). We are an integrated team.

No, it has not been set so far.
How many mummies will be transferred to NMEC?
22 royal mummies from the 17th, 18th, and 19th Dynasties will be transported to the NMEC, including 18 mummies of kings and four of queens. The mummies include those of kings: Thutmose I, Thutmose II, Thutmose III, Seti I, Ramesses II, Ramesses III, Ramesses IV, Ramesses V, Seqnenre, Merenptah, and queens: Hatshepsut, Merit amin, the wife of King Amenhotep I, and Ahmose Nefertari, the wife of king Ahmose .

It is worthy to note that, Major General, Ahmed Fouad said in press statements to “Al-Ahram” newspaper that he is following up all the procedures taken regarding royal mummies’ transportation process. Moreover, he ordered formation of a technical team to follow up the event organization.
