Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau issued a stern message via X stating:
“I extend my full support to the police commissioner and all the officers working tonight to ensure public safety. It is unacceptable that we cannot celebrate a sporting victory without fear of violence from a minority of thugs who respect nothing.”
Prime Minister François Bayrou also weighed in, urging for peaceful celebrations: “Let’s ensure a joyful and safe celebration for everyone.”
