A devastating road accident in the southern state of Oaxaca, Mexico, on Tuesday has left at least 16 people dead and 36 others injured, according to Mexican authorities.

Governor Salomon Khara confirmed that a bus carrying migrants collided with a truck, resulting in this tragic incident. Taking to the social media platform "X," he expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and pledged full support to them during this trying time.

Initially, authorities did not specify the destination the migrants were aiming for. Thousands of migrants annually seek to reach the United States through Mexico, escaping poverty, violence, and political crises.

Governor Khara emphasized the need for comprehensive safety measures and heightened vigilance on the region's roads to prevent such heart-wrenching accidents.
