The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, announced on Monday that about 100,000 people have fled from Lebanon to Syria to escape Israeli airstrikes.
Grandi shared the update on X, stating that the number of individuals crossing into Syria includes both Lebanese and Syrians, and emphasized that the influx continues.
The UNHCR is present at four crossing points to assist these individuals, collaborating with local authorities and the Syrian Red Crescent.
In addition to this, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) declared an emergency operation on Sunday to provide food assistance to one million people affected by the conflict in Lebanon.
Matthew Hollingworth, WFP's Director in Lebanon, indicated that with the worsening crisis, the organization is preparing to assist up to one million people by offering cash support and food assistance.
He also urged the international community to contribute approximately $105 million to enable the organization to sustain these operations through the end of the year.
