The Taliban government in Afghanistan says Pakistani airstrikes overnight killed at least 10 civilians, nine children, and a woman, in Khost province, with additional strikes in Kunar and Paktika injuring four more people.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the attack targeted the home of a resident shortly after midnight, destroying the house and killing all the victims inside. Pakistan’s military and foreign ministry have not yet commented.
The incident comes a day after suicide bombings in Peshawar that killed three paramilitary personnel. Recent months have seen escalating border violence between the two countries, including deadly clashes in October and a fragile ceasefire negotiated in Doha.
Mujahid warned that Afghanistan would respond “at the right time,” as tensions continue to rise over Pakistan’s accusations that Kabul shelters anti-Pakistan militant groups, claims the Taliban denies.
Local Afghan media, including Kabul-based Tolo News, broadcast footage showing funerals for the victims on Tuesday.
