The world, especially the United Nations, is preparing to celebrate the International Day of People with Disability's 26th anniversary. Simultaneously, Egypt is celebrating 2018 People with Special Need's Year.

Egyptian National Council for Disability Affairs' General Secretary Ashraf Marey commented "Percentages of people with disability differ from one country another, "confirming that "When dealing with persons with disability, there is lack of awareness, thus, there are some basic concepts all people should know."

During the International Day of People with Disability's opening ceremony, a simulation workshop took place between people with disability and others in good condition. At this event, Marey expressed "These basic concepts include capability, possibility, and integrated education."

"Capability means enabling the person with disability to recover, achieve, or develop his physical, mental, professional, social, psychological, or financial abilities. It means enabling him to invest and utilize his abilities to guarantee his independence and full participation in all fields of life."

"Possibility means preparations or procedures necessary for providing a suitable environment with the technological means needed at establishments and public utilities," adding that regarding the third concept "quality of education for all citizens should be improved."

He added "According to Egypt's census for 2017, percentage of persons that suffered "from simple to absolute difficulties" was amounted to around 10.67 out of the total population."

"The World Health Organization reported that in general persons with disability worldwide are more than one billion, representing around 10% of the world's population. Out of the mentioned number 80% live in low and middle-income countries, where access to essential social and health services for common citizens, especially citizens with disability, is limited.
