Ukraine's Seaports Authority said a small test boat will set sail on Friday, a local dock operator said, in a possibly encouraging sign that the resumption of grain shipments is imminent.

"Bloomberg", a US news agency reported that crop traders are closely watching tangible progress towards releasing millions of tons of grain accumulated in Ukraine since the ports were closed after the Russian invasion last February.

A week has passed since the two sides signed an important agreement, brokered by Turkey with the participation of United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The Corporate Sea Ports Authority in Ukraine said at a meeting yesterday that a small test boat will set sail today, according to Shota Khagiishvili, co-founder of Rezwill, which operates a berth in the port of Chornomorsk.

Khagishvili said he has two ships ready and hopes they will sail on Saturday if the test goes according to plan.
