WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 (SEE)- U.S. President Donald Trump praised the German car manufacturer BMW for considering the establishment of a new plant in the United States.

"Big Steel is opening and renovating plants all over the country, auto companies are pouring into the US, including BMW, which just announced a major new plant. The U.S.A. is booming," Trump said in a tweet on Thursday.

BMW prepares to set up a second US-based engine plant along with the existing one in South Carolina.

This came after Trump announced on Wednesday that his administration would consider imposing tariffs on car imports pouring into the country.

Trump has frequently lauded the strength of the U.S. economy and the decline of unemployment under his administration until he received a major blow from General Motors (GM), who announced the closure of several plants in the country, cutting almost 15,000 jobs.

The U.S. president sharply criticized GM, threatening to cut all provided financial aid. "GM is largely in contradiction with what other companies are doing in setting up factories in the US," he said.
