CAIRO, Mar. 21 (SEE)- Dr Kathryn Kell, president of World Dental Federation (FDI) told 'SEE' that according to latest studies, about 3.58 billion people world-wide are suffering from tooth decay and other oral diseases.

This was on the sidelines of Egypt’s World Oral Health Day celebration held few hours ago at Marriott Mena House hotel in Giza.

She confirmed that the most common problems are dental cavities, caries as well as gum diseases.

"Kids are more prone to suffer from tooth problems as they don’t get proper dental care and that’s why campaigns mainly focus on them," she added.

Kell advised people to brush teeth twice a day by using good brushing techniques and suitable toothpaste, stop smoking and eliminate sugar intake in order to enjoy healthy teeth and attractive smiles.

On her part, Sheren Menem head of personal care products at Unilever Mashreq, stated that 70% of Egypt's kids suffer from tooth problems, while 30% of them miss school classes due to unbearable tooth pain.

She added that other tragic truth is 20% of kids in Egypt suffer low self-esteem because of inconsistent shape of teeth or dark color.
