Tourism Ministry, Italian Network to Show New Season of Documentary

The Tourism Ministry announced the launch of a new season of documentary series about ancient Egypt, produced by Italy's MEDIASET Group. The documentary will be aired on the TV program “Freedom Oltre II Confine”.

The new season will include 13 episodes, filmed in Aswan, Giza, Luxor, Abu Simbel Temple, Saqqara, and Abydos Temple from April 2 to 18.

Addressing the event, Tourism Minister Rania Al Mashat said that the new documentary falls within a framework of Egypt's promotion in Italy, which is considered as one of the main tourist markets for Egypt, a matter which contributes to boosting the number of Italians flocking to the country.

Mashat stressed the importance of holding several partnerships with media abroad to reach various tourist markets, citing the ministry's recent partnership with CNN International Network.

The minister also noted: "The ministry seeks to persify its promotion platforms and modernize its marketing tools in line with its reform program."

Meanwhile, the famous archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass, who attended the event, hailed the cooperation between the ministry and the Italian network, pointing to the success achieved by the first season of the documentary. Hawass also commended the ministry's partnership with CNN.

It is worth mentioning that Italian newspapers including Corriere della Sera, Repubblica, Stampa, Giornale, Libero, Verita, Sole 24, Italia Oggi, and Leggo covered the event.

Roberto Giacobbo, one of the most famous broadcasters in Italy and the interviewer of “Freedom Oltre II Confine”, said: "New secrets about the ancient Egyptian civilization would be revealed in the coming documentary, as it was filmed in unknown archaeological sites in Egypt."

The previous season, aired from December 2018 till February 14, recorded the highest viewing rate on the Italian network with an average ranging between one million and a half and five million views for each episode.
