Tourism Min. Partakes in Chinese New Year Celebrations

CAIRO, Jan. 29 (SEE) - Tourism Minister Rania Al Mashat said on Monday the Chinese market is one of the most promising tourist markets for Egyptian tourism, looking forward to receiving more Chinese tourists in Egypt.

Mashat was delivering a speech during her participation in a celebration organized by the Chinese Cultural Center on the occasion of the Chinese New Year, starting on Tuesday, in collaboration with the Egyptian Tourist Authority at Salah El-Din Citadel.

The tourism minister greeted the Chinese people on this occasion, hailing the strength and depth of relations binding Cairo and Beijing that had been boosted over the past four years at various levels.

She expressed her happiness for partaking in such an event, affirming that Egypt is interested in sharing with China its celebrations.

During her speech, Mashat said that she is interested in bolstering tourism relationship with China, citing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s first foreign trip to China in 2014 and the five summits that were held between Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping over the past three years.

Following the celebration, the minister tweeted "Yesterday, and in celebration of China’s Spring Festival and Lunar New Year we lightened the Citadel of Salah el Din located in the heart of Cairo with a Red display. Happy New Year #China from all of us here in #Egypt."

Minister of Chinese Embassy in Cairo Liu Yongfeng and Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Mostafa Waziri attended the event.

The citadel was lit up in red marking the Chinese New Year and the Spring Festival.
