CAIRO, Jan.13 (SEE) - He is the only Egyptian who works at Japan's Toshiba Corporation. His black skin made people confused about whether he is a client or an employer at the company.

Abu Bakr El Fateh or Bakuru Abushiba as he is called in Japan, an Egyptian-Sudanese citizen who came from Nubia works as a deputy manager at Toshiba Corp. He is responsible for tendering, negotiation and award of large Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) for power plant projects in South East Asia, and North East Asia.

Abushiba graduated from the Japanese Language Department of Faculty of Arts of Cairo University then he headed for Japan in 2004 as a student on a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.

In 2008, after completing his master’s course, Abushiba took a job at Toshiba, where he has put his skills to use in the company’s international power and energy solutions business.

El Fateh was called "Abushiba" because the Japanese people can't pronounce Abu Bakr easily, but they knew that "Abu" means in Arabic " a father" so they called him Abushiba due to his belonging to his company Toshiba.

Toshiba honored the Egyptian employee two times successively by "Outstanding Performance Award" as he succeeded in signing deals worth of $4 billion in only two years. He noted that his biggest deal he inked ever was with Malaysia.

Abushiba has depth commercial and contract experience on all facets of major project tendering, contract negotiation and project implementation.

According to Nippon website, Abushiba said when he started his work at Toshiba: “I was really surprised when someone told me, ‘We’re getting a prayer room ready for you, so please be patient.” He was rather dubious at first, but it was not long before his employers had set up a proper prayer room at Toshiba’s Tokyo headquarters in Hamamatsuchō.
