“Sphinx University” to operate in Egypt

CAIRO, Nov. 14 (SEE) – “Sphinx”… a new private university is expected to start operations in Egypt to contribute to raising the level of education and scientific research, and providing scientific specialties to prepare specialists, technicians and experts in various fields.

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced yesterday the approval of the Council of Ministers on a presidential draft proposal for the establishment of a private university called “Sphinx University” in Assiut Governorate.

The University is to include schools of Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy, Al-Alsun (foreign languages), Physical Therapy, Oral and Dental Surgery, Technology and Development, Applied Health Sciences and Nursing.

According to the draft, the university can establish specialized colleges and institutes and other research units after taking the necessary legal steps in this regard.

The approval decision stated that the university cannot start its operations until completing its human and material resources and prove its validity for educational process and scientific research as well as making cooperation agreements with distinguished international universities and good reputation.

The university aims at linking its objectives with the needs of a developed society and providing research services to others.

According to the approval, the university would provide the latest advanced equipment and work to strengthen cultural and scientific ties with universities and scientific bodies.
