Sisi, Abbas Tackle Palestinian Developments

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will receive his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday in Cairo for talks about the recent development of the Palestinian cause, Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady said.

Rady added that the Egyptian-Palestinian talk will tackle the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to Palestinian Ambassador to Egypt Diab Al-Louh, Abbas will participate in the Extraordinary Session of the Council of the League of the Arab States at the ministerial level set to be held on Sunday.

Louh noted that the Palestinian president will also brief the Arab foreign ministers on the latest developments on the Palestinian issue.

Abbas arrived in Cairo on Saturday in the company of the Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization PLO, Saeb Erekat, Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki and the president's advisor for diplomatic affairs Majdi Al-Khalidi.

In Feb, Sisi and Abbas met on the sidelines of the 1st Arab-European Summit in Egypt.

During the meeting, Sisi underscored Egypt's steadfast stance regarding the Palestinian issue, the two-state solution and the establishment of the Palestinian state on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Egyptian president also noted Egypt's continuing strenuous efforts to serve the Palestinian cause in terms of close coordination with the Palestinian side to crystallize a strategic vision to find ways to move positively toward creating a favorable atmosphere for stability on the ground, Presidency Spokesman Bassam Radi said then.

On his part, the Palestinian president expressed appreciation for Egypt's unwavering support for the Palestinians and their struggle for independence, praising its historical role in this respect with the aim of reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the long-running Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

In Jan., Sisi received Abbas at Ettahadiya presidential palace, eastern Cairo, as the two leaders tackled the Palestinian file’s developments as usual.
