CAIRO, Jan. 5 (SEE) - President
Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received his Palestinian Counterpart Mahmoud Abbas in
Cairo. Both leaders discussed latest developments of the Palestinian Cause. The
meeting was attended also by Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Egyptian
General Intelligence Service Chief Abbas Kamel and the Palestinian Ambassador
in Cairo Diab Al-Louh.
President Sisi asserted strong historical ties between Egypt and
Palestine, noting that the Palestinian issue will remain at the top of the Egyptian
foreign policy's priority, according to a statement by Presidential
Spokesperson Bassam Radi on Saturday.
"Egypt will keep doing its best until Palestinian People
restore their legitimate rights under the international legitimacy
umbrella," Sisi added.
Radi pointed out that the Palestinian president, on his part,
hailed the Egyptian efforts and its historical stances in supporting the
Palestinian Cause.
"President Abbas affirmed continuous cooperation with Cairo
at various levels," Radi said. "The meeting was fruitful and both
leaders agreed to continue consultations to reunite the Palestinian
factions."
Abbas arrived in Cairo on Friday in order to take part in the official
inauguration of Al-Fattah Al-Alim Mosque and the Birth of Jesus Church located
in the New Administrative Capital City due to take place on Sunday.
In a related regard, the Palestinian president honored some Egyptian celebrities for their sincere efforts and art works, most notably famous scenarist Wahid Hamed and veteran actor Mohamed Sobhi.
