A recent study concluded that high levels of vitamin D are linked with better fitness.

According to researchers, people with higher vitamin D levels also tended to have better cardiorespiratory fitness, a measure of a person's aerobic fitness level.

Indeed, the higher a person's vitamin D level was, the greater their cardiorespiratory fitness was.

Lead study author Dr. Amr Marawan, an assistant professor of internal medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University, told Livescience.com that the link between vitamin D and fitness level was strong and consistent among different groups of people. "This suggests that there is a robust connection and provides further impetus for having adequate vitamin D levels."

The study was published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology. The findings were consisted among men and women, as well as among people in different age groups or ethnicities.
