Archaeological mission restores Ramses II statue

CAIRO, JULY 26 (SEE) The Egyptian Archaeological Mission in San El-Hagar Sharqiya governorate has completed the restoration of King Ramses II statue as part of the development of the archaeological area, which was started by the Ministry in December 2017.

Mostafa Waziri Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities pointing out that the statue was found broken to separate parts and was lying on the floor of the temple since its discovery in the late nineteenth century.

Waziri explained that the 6.50 meters long statue is made of Milford pink granite, and weighs up to 30 tons. He added that the restoration was carried out in accordance with the latest scientific methods.

The area of ​​San Al-Hagar was the capital of ancient Egypt during the twenty-first and twenty-third dynasty.
