CAIRO September 9 (SEE): American former president Barack Obama directly attacked Donald Trump in a newly released speech at the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign.

He accused Trump for violating the rule of law and freedom of the press. He also referred to his threat to jail Hillary Clinton, his former election opponent. Obama added that Trump failed to get right “basic stuff” including transparency and declaring conflicts of interest.

"If we don't step up, things can get worse, in two months, we have the chance to restore some sanity to our politics. We have the chance to flip the House of Representatives and make sure there are real checks and balances in Washington," Obama said at the Anaheim Convention Center.

He spoke to a large crowd in Orange County yesterday to convince the audience to vote in the upcoming November elections.

According to CNN, the former president is expected to travel later this month to New York to attend a fundraiser for the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

Trump mockingly said that he tried to watch the speech, but he fell asleep. He is also planning to be on the road for 40 days before November’s elections.
