Salah, Ronaldo and Modric nominated for FIFA Player of the Year Award

Cairo, SEPT 3 (SEE):  The finalists for The FIFA Football Awards for 2018 have been announced after a year filled with drama, action and excitement across both the men’s and women’s games. The Best FIFA Football Awards 2018 are set take place in London, where the winners will be crowned at the Royal Festival Hall on 24 September 2018

Player Awards

Mohamed Salah, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric are shortlisted for the 2018’s FIFA best Player’s award. All three players were also elected for the UEFA player of the year award, with Modric winning  followed by Ronaldo then Salah.

Modric and Ronaldo both won the Champions League playing for Real Madrid, but Modric succeeded in reaching the World Cup final, unlike Ronaldo and Salah who exited the Mondial at an early stage.

Two English Premier League players who have been nominated for the Best Goalkeeper award include Tottenham player and World Cup winner for France Hugo Lloris and Leicester's Kasper Schmeichel. Former Chelsea 'keeper Thibaut Courtois, who signed for Real Madrid in the summer, is also nominated.

Didier Deschamps, who led France to World Cup glory in Russia, is on the Best FIFA Men's best Coach shortlist with Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic, who led his team into the finals and former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who succeeded in capturing his third straight UEFA Champions League with his club.

Goal Awards

The FIFA Puskas award  granted for the best goal of the year is made up of 10 nominees including Gareth Bale's overhead kick in the Champions League final against Liverpool and Benjamin Pavard's phenomenal strike in France's 4-3 win over Argentina in the World Cup last 16.

Women's Awards

This year's Best FIFA Women's Player nominees are Lyon pair Ada Hegerberg and Dzsenifer Maroszan as Brazilian Marta.
