According to the tripartite statement signed on November 10, 2020, a decision was made by the top leadership of both countries to withdraw the peacekeepers of the Russian Federation temporarily stationed in the territory of Azerbaijan from the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. The reason for this is the change of geopolitical realities in the region and the fact that peacekeepers no longer have any functions. The withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Azerbaijan also means the beginning of a new stage in the history of the South Caucasus.

These days, reaching an agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the return of four villages of Gazakh occupied by Armenia in the early 90s is the next important success achieved in the direction of signing a peace agreement. The peaceful return of four villages of the Gazakh region under the occupation of Armenia without bloodshed is the next achievement of our foreign policy conducted under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Speaking about this issue, the President said that the first step towards settling the delimitation and demarcation issues and reaching a peace agreement with Armenia is the return of the four occupied villages. The fact that a number of countries have issued statements welcoming the agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan in recent days shows that this issue is in the center of attention of the whole world.

If we look at the achievements of Azerbaijan in recent years, we will see that our nation is living the most glorious period in its history under the leadership of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. As a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, our country has become a strong state that has restored its territorial integrity and sovereignty. The premature withdrawal of Russian peacekeeping forces from Azerbaijan means the absence of any foreign force on the territory of our country, and the successful end of the process that began in 2020 with the 44-day Patriotic War.

The fact that Armenia finally understood the reality and agreed on the return of the four villages of Azerbaijan can be considered as an important step towards the normalization of relations. This agreement reached as a result of the meeting between the delimitation commissions shows once again that Armenia and Azerbaijan can solve their problems under conditions of mutual understanding. This suggests that peace and stability will soon be established in the region if external forces and circles with interests in the region do not interfere in the process. Azerbaijan wants peace and tranquility, not war. We hope that Azerbaijan's efforts to create a friendly neighborhood with Armenia will bear fruit and soon a peace treaty will be signed between the two countries.
