Science, Technology Fund Holds Joint Workshops Under Newton-Mosharafa Umbrella

CAIRO, Nov. 17 (SEE)- Under the umbrella of Newton-Mosharafa program between Egypt and Britain, Science and Technology Fund organized, in cooperation with the Royal Academy of Engineering in Britain, a joint workshop.

It is worth noting is that Newton-Mosharafa Fund gather scientific research and innovation sectors in Egypt and Britain. It aims at seeking collective solutions to confront obstacles that face Egypt in development fields.

Holding the workshop came after continuous and circular meetings between the Egyptian and British sides to support innovative projects and promising ideas in the field of scientific research.

Cooperation between both sides also aims at strengthening research outcomes and industry on a practical level in the projects financed by the Fund. This step serves the research plan developed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, as the country set goals to achieve sustainable development through applying practically scientific research outcomes.

The workshop included sessions delivered by persons with promising ideas and innovations. The sessions focused on how to relate scientific research with industry, and how to utilize international opportunities given to leaders in the field of innovation.

Efforts paid at the workshop were to help innovators and offer them necessary training to develop their skills, so they can convert their research ideas to new models and products for industrial production.

Report presented by Emad Hegazy, director of the Innovation and Technological Development affiliated to the Ministry showed that the workshop’s events included sessions given by British specialists on how to relate between scientific research and industry, how to market primitive research models and how to protect their intellectual rights whether nationally or internationally.

In addition, researchers who participated presented a host of applied inventions in the following fields: energy saving, purification of industrial wastewater, and recycling agricultural wastes.
