English fans have been left heartbroken after Croatia denied them their first World Cup final since 1966, after Mario Mandzukic scored the winning goal in the 108th minute of extra time, qualifying Croatia to their first World Cup final in their history.

The devastated supporters were pictured crying and consoling each other after the Three Lions lost the semi-final 2-1 in the extra-time.

There were sobering scenes across the country as hundreds of thousands of supporters left the pubs with looks of grief on their faces, contrasting the energetic atmosphere before the match.

Gareth Southgate's team looked disappointed on the field failing to come back into the match after Mario's goal. A match they lead with a goal 5 minutes into it.

The English squad however,  stayed on the pitch to show their thanks to the thousands who had made the hectic long trip to Russia to support them.

The supporters responded in an attempt to encourage the defeated players by singing out the Oasis anthem at them to show their pride.
