Hawass, Al-Feki Discuss "Serbia with Egyptian Eyes" at Book Fair

CAIRO, Feb. 3 (SEE)- Egyptologist Zahi Hawass said on Saturday that pharaonic antiquities in Egypt have not yet been utilized in the best possible way, pointing out that Serbians appreciates the history of Egypt in an unnatural way.

"My relations with Serbia began when rumors emerged over the discovery of a pyramid there," Hawass said, adding that he headed an archaeological mission to discover that the Bosnian pyramid complex was a natural rock located in the mountains of Bosnia.

Hawass added that he was severely criticized during the January 2011 revolution, prompting Egypt's ambassador to Serbia Amr Al-Jowaily to meet him up with him.

Al-Jowaily, at that time, was preparing to write a book on Tito's records in order to complete the peace process.

Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Mostafa El Feki said that former Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser joined the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which was established by Josip Broz Tito, the former head of state of former Yugoslavia to struggle against colonialism and imperialism.

Al-Jowaily said during a Cairo International Book Fair seminar, that the book "Serbia in Egyptian Eyes" is a collection of diplomatic memories, pointing out that he participated in the preparation of the book along with intellectuals, writers and former diplomats.
