Goethe Film Week Screens Films for 1st Time

Goethe Institut in Alexandria presents its annual Goethe Film Week, running from 18-23 April. It screenings a group of German contemporary feature films and a wide-ranging collection of Arabic films in addition documentaries.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian films will form a wide range of works from countries across the world including Austria, France, Lebanon, Spain and Macedonia. The majority of these films are collaborations uniting several countries.

The institute announced a closing program of short films to be screened as part of the “Shubbak El Fann – Alexandria”. The program includes seven perse films by Egyptian filmmakers. The majority of these films will be screened for the first time.

The screenings takes place in sites around Alexandria, primarily at Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Jesuit Cultural Center and Goethe-Institut.

Events be held at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and all screenings are free entry, and doors close at full capacity.

-Swahili feature film with Arabic subtitles

*At Jesuit Cultural Centre, 7pm

-You Come From Far Away film

-Arabic, English and Spanish with Arabic translation

*Sunday, 21 April, At Bibliotheca Alexandrina, 7pm

-Heaps of love film

-German with English subtitles

*Monday, 22 April, At Bibliotheca Alexandrina, 5pm

-Beuys film

-German documentary film with Arabic subtitles

*Tuesday, 23 April, At Jesuit Cultural Centre, 5pm

-The Cleaners film

* At 7pm, Short Film Programme in the presence of Egyptian filmmakers.
