Global Conference on Human Fraternity Continues to Instill Humanity

CAIRO, Feb. 4 (SEE) - The Global Conference on Human Fraternity, organized by the Council of Muslim Elders under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, opened yesterday, for two days.

Attending the conference are Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, general secretary of the League of Arab States, as well as global figures from around the world.

The conference, which involved historic visit of Vatican Pope Francis Benedict who’s meeting with the Grand Imam of Alazhar Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, seeks to address intellectual extremism and its negative impacts and promote human relations based on new rules among religions and faiths.

Ambassador Nabila Makram, minister of Immigration, participated in the first session of the conference, entitled "The Pillars of Human Fraternity", which addressed reconstruction of human bridges, installing harmony, respect and love in relations, as well as how to face the challenges of human security, stability, peace and coexistence.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, minister of Tolerance at UAE, said in his opening speech that the conference comes at the year of Tolerance announced by the UAE in 2019, and coinciding with the landmark visit of his holiness the Pope and the Grand Imam. he regarded the conference as a platform for dialogue based on principles of coexistence and tolerance. He noted that more than 200 nationalities of different religions and cultural backgrounds are living in harmony and tolerance in UAE.

He stressed that all religions and faiths call for morality and raising inpidual, properly, on spiritual, intellectual and material aspects, for the human is the cornerstone in building developed civilized and tolerant human societies. Therefore, the conference seeks to highlight the common values ​​between religions and faiths for the benefit of humanity.

He expressed his trust that the conference would be a global platform that denounces hate and isolation but, instead, gathers people of different religions under one roof to say that human fraternity is shared responsibility of all, and invites reason and wisdom all the time.

The two-day conference aims at establishing a new rules for relations between followers of religions and faiths based on respect for the culture of pluralism and persity, and facing the challenges facing humanity towards peace, prosperity and progress.

The conference includes several scientific sessions and workshops that discuss several aspects of the issue. Themes are aiming at principles of human fraternity, calling for the establishment of a culture of peace, the consolidation of the concept of citizenship, and the confrontation of religious extremism from realistic perspectives to achieve peace and human fraternity.

The conference will also address in another theme how elders of the world should take upon their responsibility achieving global peace, based on human fraternity conceptions, as well as

the role of international and humanitarian organizations in carrying out their ethical and legal responsibilities. In its sessions today, the conference will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the human fraternity and supporting the initiatives to establish a culture of brotherhood in different human societies.
