First Visit of American Foreign Affairs Min. to Cairo in 2019 (in details)

CAIRO, Jan. 3 (SEE)- Egyptian sources said the scheduled visit of Mike Pompeo, the American Foreign Affairs Minister to Cairo from 9 to 11 January, is considered as the first visit of an American minister to Cairo this year.

These sources explained in a special declaration to SEE, that Pompeo will meet the Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al Tayb, the Pope Towadros Alexandria's Pope, and the Patriarch of St. Mark.

The American magazine "Politico" published that Pompeo plans will deliver a speech in Cairo about the US's role in the Middle East. This is expected to be in 10 January or a date near to this date and there's a possibility of changing the plan according to a source from the US's Foreign Ministry.

"Politico" speculated that Pompeo's visit to Egypt is a part of a wider tour including visiting Israel and neighboring Arab countries, His team speculates that the FM won't deliver his speech in Cairo University.

The magazine said that Pompeo's speech will focus on Iran's file significantly, and he will seek Arab countries to stand beside US, and defeat Iranian support for terrorism and its other activities in the area.
