Director

of UNESCO Regional Bureau for Sciences in the Arab States Ghaith Fariz said on

Thursday that the new Arabic language version is an opportunity for decision-makers

in the region to help sustain development and spread science and technology.

This

came during the launch of the UNESCO

Arabic version of its 6th report on science, technology.

"The Arab region is suffering from a

great scientific gap," Fariz said, adding that the adoption of this

version will help diagnose the problem and bridge the gap between the global

rallies of science and technology.

He

pointed out that means of benefiting from his version revolves around

collaboration, primarily as the new version was made available in the mother

tongue, the Arabic language.

It

is the first time for UNESCO to issue the report in the Arabic language,"

he noted.

The

report draws a precise vision regarding the international scientific arena. It

sets the platform towards the achievement of the 2030 sustainable development

plans.

"We provide all the support, along

with the concerned committees and member states in the Arab region, to maximize

ways of benefiting from this issue," he added.
