Egypt's 'Yomeddine' to contend in Oscars 2018

CAIRO Sept13 (SEE): Egyptian movie 'Yomeddine" was selected to represent Egypt in Oscars 2018 as the year's Best Foreign Language Film.

The movie which is Written and directed by Abu Baky Shawky, is the first independent Egyptian movie to be nominated for the Palm d’Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and it won the Francois Chalais prize.

Yomeddine was displayed for the first time in one of the cinemas in upper Egyptian city of Minya.

The film is produced by Dina Emam and Stars Rady Gamal and Ahmed Abdelhafiz.

The movie revolves around a Coptic man named Beshay who was abandoned as a child because of leprosy. He grows a bond with an orphan whose nickname is Obama, they start a journey across Egypt in search of the young boy's family.
