The National Election Authority, headed by Counselor Walid Hamza, has officially called on the voters to participate in the 2024 Presidential Elections. The timeline has been unveiled, stretching from today until the announcement of the winner on February 16th next year.

The authority has released a statement, available on their official social media page, detailing Decision No. 15 of 2023. This decision pertains to the guidelines surrounding electoral propaganda for the upcoming Presidential Election in 2024.

Primary Details:

The National Election Authority previously shared its plan to invite voters to the 2024 Presidential Elections and set a comprehensive schedule with specific dates and procedures.

These elections will be conducted across 10,085 subcommittees throughout the republic. The Authority has inspected these committees to ensure their technical and infrastructural integrity, facilitating the voting process and ensuring the safety of all participating citizens.

Eligibility Criteria for Presidential Candidates:

1. Must be Egyptian with both parents being Egyptian.

2. Neither the candidate nor their parents or spouse should have held another nationality.

3. Must hold a higher education qualification.

4. Should enjoy all civil and political rights.

5. Must not have been convicted of a felony, a crime against honor, or integrity unless rehabilitated.

6. Should have completed military service or have been legally exempted.

7. Age should not be less than 40 years by the nomination date.

8. Must not suffer from any physical or mental illness affecting performance as president.

Conditions for Accepting Presidential Nomination:

1. The candidate should be endorsed by at least 20 members of the House of Representatives.

2. Must be supported by at least 25,000 citizens with the right to vote from at least 15 governorates, with a minimum of 1,000 supporters from each governorate. A candidate cannot be endorsed by more than one supporter.

The National Election Authority has the exclusive mandate to manage referendums, the 2024 Presidential, parliamentary, and local elections. This includes organizing and supervising all related activities, ensuring absolute impartiality and independence. Any interference in its duties or powers is strictly prohibited. The primary objective is to guarantee each voter's right to vote and to ensure fairness between all voters and candidates during elections and referendums.

Responsibilities of the National Election Authority:

The authority examines nomination requests, ensures all conditions outlined by the constitution and law are met, and makes decisions on objections within five days after the objection submission deadline. Those who do not meet the criteria are notified with reasons within a 24-hour timeframe. Those excluded can appeal within two days of receiving the notice. The authority will then finalize a list of candidates based on the order of application submission. This list is published in the official gazette and two widely-read daily newspapers at least 20 days before the election date.

The upcoming Presidential Elections present a pivotal moment in Egypt's democratic journey, and these guidelines are vital to ensuring its smooth conduct.
