CAIRO, Sept.29 (SEE)-In the past years, the UN Annual General Assembly meetings have turned into 'World Governing Council sessions' due to the international political changes.

International leaders discuss in these meetings issues such as international peace and security, regional and global conflicts, combating terrorism and extremism in addition to issues of education and fighting poverty.

Furthermore, the leaders also deal with climate issues and discuss the international effort to cure some diseases.

Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated actively in the 73rd session of UN General Assembly for the fifth time.

Egypt, which has an international pioneering role, showed its vision on regional and international issues.

In the beginning, Egypt needed the world to know its opinion, but the Egyptian role has developed gradually through the past 5 years. Now, the whole world is keen to know this vision and its experience in combating terrorism, in addition to the country's success in stabilization and economic reform.

El-Sisi attended 19 bilateral and collective summits including Nelson Mandela's peace summit and meeting of Group of 77 and China. In addition to 4 more international summits and one on climate change.

Egypt has been elected a member of UN's Security Council for the sixth time (2016-2017) and as a head of group 77. Cairo also was elected to head the African Union with effect from 2019. This is due to Sisi's effective effort in five-year time.

El-Sisi concluded his successful visit to New York as a part of his participation in the 73rd UN General Assembly meeting which started on Sept 18 under the theme of "making the United Nations relevant to all people: global leaderships and shared responsibilities for peaceful, resilient, sustainable and renewed societies."

The high-level discussions which lasted for 9 days, began on Sept 25. The meeting's agenda included number of international and regional issues including political conflicts and maintaining international peace and security.

El-Sisi's agenda included Sinai comprehensive operation 2018, Egyptian's vision on the conditions in Palestine, Syria, Libya and Yemen.

He also discussed issues of development n Africa, as well as the enforcement and respect of International laws and protecting human rights.

He stressed, during his speech on Sept 25, that there is no room to talk about activating the international system if its basic unity: the national state based on the concepts of citizenship, democracy and equality, is threatened with disintegration.

He added that civil strife and sectarianism are the main reasons for any country's disintegration. This always leads to armed conflicts, illegal immigration, human, drug and weapons trafficking.

He stated that the disintegration of Arab states made Arab world a region under a threat of terrorism and sectarianism conflicts.

He pointed out that Egypt's main priority in the Arab region is to maintain the stability of each and every state in the region, adding that keeping the country's sovereignty and safety is the only solution to end the chaos happening in Syria and Yemen.
