CAIRO, Feb. 19 (SEE) - Tourism Minister Rania Al Mashat said on Monday the international tourism is growing nowadays and Egypt wants its share which suits its regional position.

Mashat was addressing a press conference in the presence of the members of the Egyptian Tourism Federation with its different sectors to review the Tourism Ministry's plan to restructure this vital sector.

At the beginning of the conference, Mashat congratulated the attendees on the completion of the federation through elections for the first time in three years, not by the minister's decision, noting that selection of heads of the tourist chambers through elections is the first axis of the legislative reform of the ministry's structural reform program.

"The ministry's reform program won't finish soon, but it needs time to succeed," the minister pointed out, stressing that each ministry has a role in this program in collaboration with the House of the Representatives.

"The reform program is being developed through a triangle which includes the ministry, the House, and the private sector," she further said.

She also underscored that the ministry pays great attention to developing the tourism's software which is represented in raising the efficiency of the human factor and tourist facilities as well which represent the tourism's hardware.

While answering a question asked by SEE about "Branding by Destination" campaign, the minister stated that the campaign would be promoted through the international fairs in which Egypt is set to partake.

During her speech, Mashat pointed out tourism represents 30 percent of Egypt's total service exports, adding that 2018 witnessed solving key problems in the sector and 2019 witnesses implementing the reform program.

Regarding the training file, Tourism Minister Adviser for Training Soha Baghat said the ministry's plan is based on improving the human resources to boost the tourist services offered to tourists to raise their satisfaction, a matter which needs well-qualified labor.

"Creating well-qualified labor will come through developing the educational system especially the technical one in addition to qualified trainers," Bahgat noted.

"The ministry has a short term plan in this matter aims at training 5,400 people in various tourism sectors from July 1, 2018, till June 30 this year," the minister adviser said.

Meanwhile, Advisor to the Minister for Green and sustainable Tourism Emad Hassan pointed out that 80 hotels nationwide had gained the Green Star Certification.

The minister and members of the federation agreed that the ministry is committed to the SDGs.
