Culture Ministry Adopts New Strategy to Promote Theaters

CAIRO, Mar. 22(SEE)-The Ministry of Culture set a development strategy and a new vision plan for theater production in the General Organization of Culture Palaces.

The strategy is based on encouraging young creators and enriching theatrical movement in the different regions of Egypt, to promote their ideas, dreams and aspirations which contributes to raising the country's community awareness.

The plan includes presenting 302 spectacles in Cairo and the other provinces especially in culture houses, theater clubs, distinguished production of theater clubs, central theater, quantity experiments, street theater as well as specialized workshops.

Dr. Ahmed Awwad, head of the General Organisation, said that attracting young people, discovering and nurturing their talents are some of the important roles played by the organization.

On her part, Dr. Enas Abdel-Dayem, Minister of Culture, encouraged officials to create opportunities for the talented innovators in the various branches of theater in the regions. This move aims at presenting the spectacles of young people and other important works of the Egyptian and international creators .

Furthermore, Adel Hassan, a theatrical director in The General Organization noted that the production plan focuses on the quality of the texts and deals with serious topics with various new treatments and visions. It includes:

- 102 theater shows for the culture palace and houses.

- 116 theater shows and theater clubs

- 21 theater shows for the distinguished production of theater clubs

- 6 theater shows for the central production .It will be presented in Cairo and Giza for two weeks , after that it will rotate all the regions of Egypt .

- 15 theater shows for the quantity experiments, which is presented out of the box .

- 8 theater shows for the street theater .

- 14 theater shows for the production of training workshops .

Hassan pointed out that the organization invented new activities: festivals of " Female Director" and "Young Directors "which will include 10 theater shows, in addition to regular activities such as "the festival of theater clubs" and " the closing festival of provinces' theater troupes" ..
