CBE: Local Liquidity Hit EGP 788.9 Billion since Beginning of 2022

The local liquidity in the banking sector rose to EGP 6.611 trillion at the end of June, compared to EGP 5.822 trillion at the end of December 2021, an increase of EGP 788.944 billion.

Central bank of Egypt (CBE) data revealed that the money supply recorded EGP 1.544 trillion at the end of last June, compared to EGP 1.380 trillion in December 2021.

Cash in circulation outside the banking system amounted to EGP 778.8 billion at the end of June, compared to 701.882 billion pounds at the end of 2021.

Demand deposits in local currency amounted to EGP 766.379 billion, compared to EGP 680.464 billion at the end of December 2021, while quasi-money recorded EGP 5.066 trillion.

Time deposits in local currency amounted to EGP 4.220 trillion, compared to EGP 3.789 trillion at the end of December 2021, while demand deposits in foreign currencies amounted to EGP 846.101 billion, compared to EGP 650.8 billion by the end of 2021.
