CBE: 2.4 % Rise in Total Banks Loans

CAIRO, Nov. 28 (SEE)- The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) data showed a rise of 2.4 percent in the total loans granted by banks last September.

The CBE said in a statistical bulletin issued on Wednesday that total loans of Households increased EGP 6.68 billion amounting for EGP 277.32 billion at the end of September, compared to EGP 270.64 billion last August.

On the other hand, loans granted to Households in foreign currency fell to EGP 9.74 billion during September, compared with EGP 11.99 billion in August.

The monthly bulletin of the CBE showed a marginal increase in deposits of Households reaching EGP 1.95 trillion compared to EGP 1.92 trillion the preceding month.

The bank added that the volume of personal loans granted increased to EGP 271.2 billion from EGP 264.73 billion in August.

Total loans to customers from banks other than the central bank stood at EGP 1.64 trillion, up from 1.62 trillion.
