AUC's Spotlight Seminar Discusses Facts of Child Marriage

CAIRO, 1Nov (SEE)- The Public Policy HUB – GAPP School in the American University of Cairo, in collaboration with UNICEF and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM) organized the first Spotlight Seminar on ‘Child Marriage: Key Facts and Way Forward’.

The seminar panel included;Dr. Azza Ashmawy, Secretary-General NCCM ,Dr. Gamal Elkhatib, Senior Technical Advisor, NCCM  ,Mr. Luigi Peter, Chief Social Policy, UNICEF  ,The Panel was chaired by;

Prof. Laila El ElBaradei, Professor of Public Administration, GAPP School, AU

The panel discussed the current scenario of child marriage in the country, looking at regional disparities, as well as determinants and impacts of child marriage and policies and interventions that could be adopted to address the issue.

The Attendees included young students from AUC, BUE and Cairo University, in addition to representatives from AUC- Social Research Center, USAID, Save the Children, Care International, Plan International, Embassy of Netherland, CAPMAS, and Local NGOs.
