CAIRO, Aug 29 (SEE) - The Armed Forces issued on Wednesday the 27th statement of the new updates of the Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018.

"Acting on a tip-off, the Egyptian troops monitored a terrorist cell in the Western Desert, which took a hide there. After attacking the hotbed, seven very dangerous terrorists were killed and a number of weapons, explosive belts and equipment were seized in their possession," the statement said.

"A 4x4 car, laden with quantities of arms and ammunition, was also destroyed," the statement read.

"Over the past days, the Egyptian Armed Forces killed 13 takfiris in shootouts in raids in North and Central Sinai and arrested 18 wanted people and suspects," the Armed Forces went on saying.

The statement pointed out that about 18 hideouts of terrorists were destroyed in North and Central Sinai.

"While on Egypt's western borders, the air forces destroyed 38 cars, used in illegal smuggling purposes. The border guards seized a drone, 1,100 kilogram of Hashish and 1.3 million drug tablets," the statement further added.

"On the southern borders, the troops seized 26 cars and caught 55 fugitives over charges of smuggling and gold mining," the statement noted.

These achievements came within a framework of the Armed Forces' efforts to maintain the homeland's security and stability and protect it from dangers of terrorism.
