Actors' Syndicate Comments on Release of Actor "Tarek El-Nahry"

Head of the Actors' Syndicate Ashraf Zaki Praised President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi after issuing a decree to pardon a number of those convicted of judicial rulings, including the artist Tarek El Nahry.

Zaki said: “I thank His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in my name and in the name of all Egyptian artists, and the artist Tarek El-Nahry," adding, that the artist could return to the Syndicate of Actors.

On February 23, 2019, the Cairo Criminal Court sentenced El-Nahry, and 9 others to life imprisonment, on the background of his accusation of involvement in burning the scientific complex, gathering, demonstrating and possessing firearms.

On July 4, 2020, by accepting the appeal submitted by "El-Nahry" against the criminal court's ruling, his sentence was reduced to 15 years in prison.

On the occasion of New Hijri Year, President Abdel Fattah Sisi issued a presidential decree to pardon seven inmates, including El Nahry, and 6 others.
