Abdel Gawad stated after his big win“It was a tough game against a great player. I had a difficult time earlier this season but I trained so hard to regain my form and it paid off.”
Abdel Gawad had an amazing run in the championship defeating World No.1, Mohamed El Shorbagy and World No. 4, Tarek Moamen at quarter finals and semi finals respectively.
48 players battled for the title including 17 Egyptian players and many Squash stars like Germany’s Simon Rösner, Colombia’s Miguel Angel Rodriguez and New Zealand's Paul Coll who come among the top 10 players in the world.
