7 Dead in UAE Floods, Rescue Operations Continue- Ministry

The UAE Ministry of Interior announced that seven people were confirmed dead as a result of torrential rains that hit several regions in the country.

The authorities are continuing rescue operations and evacuating hundreds of stranded people, according to what the Ministry of Interior announced today.

The Director General of Central Operations at the Ministry of Interior, Ali Al Tunaiji, said in a video posted by the ministry on Twitter: "We regret to announce that six people of Asian nationalities have been found dead as a result of the floods," noting that the search is still ongoing for an Asian person as well.

Shortly afterwards, the Ministry of Interior announced that the missing person had been found, "and he has passed away."

According to Al-Taniji, 80 percent of the people whose homes were damaged by the floods "returned to their homes," adding that "most of the roads affected by the floods have been reopened."
