18 Countries Participate in 1st Saudi Forum for Video Art

CAIRO, Jan. 7 (SEE)- In the midst of a historical state of cultural and artistic renaissance in Saudi Arabia, the ''First International Video Art Forum in Dammam" was held and 35 works of art from 18 countries around the world were presented.

The countries included 7 Arab countries other than Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Morocco, UAE, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait.

Within five days of December 20th, the works were selected after a sifting process that included hundreds of technical videos that took part in the forum. It is the first of its kind in the world, displaying independent art without specialized technical ratings attachable.

Yousef El Harbi, Director of the Culture and Arts Association in ''Dammam'' announced that the forum is focusing on one of the most important contemporary visual arts in which combined various artistic combinations; whether in presentation or criticism as well as to promote several seminars and technical books on the same specialty.

''El-Harbi'' confirmed the forum's insight to support the participants through holding a competition that has already been announced and remains to be implemented. The awards are a technical residency in the ''Kingdom'' to facilitate and support artistic works on its land. In addition to that, the organization is interested in this art and will be printed by the forum to be referred to later.

On his part, Ahmed Mohsen Mansour, the artistic director of the forum, an Egyptian citizen considered the forum a serious expression of the Kingdom's great cultural plans, especially for this pioneering color of art which is rarely displayed in the plastic arts halls.

''Modernity'' drives new generations to witness their experience through innovation. No tradition with critical guidance relying on technological techniques and employs it to express different emotions and experiences of life deeper than the different colors of arts such as; painting and photography," Mansour added.

On the other hand, Ayman Abd El- Hamid, one of the participants announced that he was proud to show his film "Deep Love" at the first forum of its kind in Saudi Arabia, although he did not attend this show and was notified by a message through an e-mail. He reported that it is enough to honor the featuring of his work. later he will mention in his personal message that he participated in the first session of this international forum, in addition to the appreciation certificate that he waiting to receive by e-mail.
